Store Notes & Beer News - Some of the things happening at Lima Beverage & Beyond It's Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beer time again!!!!- August 19, 2008 I know.....it seems like it comes earlier and earlier every year. Almost all Oktoberfest and Pumpkin beers are in stock. Don't wait till the month of October to get them either, because you will get shutout....they do not last past September. Kalik, The Beer of the Bahamas is finally in PA- July 17, 2008 Kalik, The Beer of the Bahamas, is finally in PA and we have it in stock! ***NEW*** Green Flash Hop Head Red Ale- June 25, 2008 New to the Philadelphia area, and most of the East Coast, is Green Flash's version of a Red Ale. New beers posted!!!- June 9, 2008 Sorry for not adding our new beers to the "New Arrivals" page, but we have been so busy around here.....still no excuse though. We have now updated the page to include all our new beers......and there are alot of them!!!! Philadelphia Brewing Company beers have arrived!- April 15, 2008 Two former co-owners of Yards Brewing have started to brew and bottle their new beers under Philadelphia Brewing Company at the site of the old Yards Brewing in Kensington. New beers and variety packs have arrived.......more on the way- March 4, 2008 Land Shark Lager finally in Pennsylvania, and we have it!- February 15, 2008 rrival of Land Shark Lager into Pennsylvania has arrived. From Margaritaville Brewing Company (Jacksonville, FL), Landshark Lager is an Island Style Lager that will presumably be the new sponsor for Jummy Buffet's tours. Victory St. Victorious is in- February 13, 2008 Victory Brewing Company's (Downingtown, PA) St. Victorious has arrived in store. Boulder Beer Company's Mojo IPA has arrived- February 5, 2008 Boulder Beer Company's popular Mojo IPA has arrived. Mojo IPA is a 7% ABV, 70 IBU beer using Amarillo and Centennial hops. No Bell's Hopslam this year for us- February 5, 2008 We just found out today, that Bell's Hopslam will not get to us this year. The wholesaler, Shangy's out of Easton, PA, received a limited supply for wholesale purposes and that has already made it's way out of their doors. Good luck finding it! Blue Moon Rising Moon Spring Ale- January 29, 2008 A limited supply of Blue Moon's latest seasonal, Rising Moon Spring Ale, has arrived. Get it while it lasts!!! Green Flash West Coast IPA is back in- January 24, 2008 After a 3 month long shortage somewhere along the three-tier system this country employes to distribute beer, Green Flash West Coast IPA has made its return to the Philadelphia area. Troegs Nugget Nectar due in Friday, January 18- January 17, 2008 Probably our most awaited seasonal beer every year, Troegs Nugget Nectar will be arriving in store Friday, January 18th. Anheuser Busch's Shock Top is a new addition- January 15, 2008 Shock Top is the latest seasonal to hit the stores, and our store, from Anheuser Busch. It is a Belgian-style wheat ale, brewed with spices, orange, lemon & lime peels, and coriander. It was a Gold Medal winner at the 2006 North American Beer Awards in the Belgian Wit category and a 2007 Bronze Medal winner at the same awards. Small Brews Show They're Not Weak Beer As Popularity Rises, Specialty Brewers Challenge Distributors By DAVID KESMODEL, Wall Street Journal Last fall, Larry Bell yanked the beers made by his small Michigan brewery out of Chicago, where they enjoyed a loyal following, rather than see the rights to market them there sold to another distributor. He worried that his specialty beers would get lost among the distributor's mass-market brands. Delerium Noel in stock- November 28, 2007 Delerium Noel has arrived in 12oz bottles just in time for the holidays. Noel is a Belgian Strong Dark Ale at 10% ABV brewed by Brouwerij Huyghe, in Brussels, Belgium. Bell's Two-Hearted 5 Liter Kegs!- November 28, 2007 Bell's Brewing (Comstock, MI) has released a limited supply of 5 Liter Kegs (equal to just more than 14 beers) of its Two Hearted Ale. Better get here in the next week or they will be gone. Anchor Christmas 2007 is in stock- November 20, 2007 Anchor Brewing (San Fransisco, CA) has released its annual Christmas Ale for 2007 and we now have a few cases. Price increases in craft brews could be 20-25% because of malt & hops shortages - November 8, 2007 I will share with you all an email I received today from Dan Weirback, President of Weyerbacher Brewing Company, Easton, PA. Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale is here!!!!!!- November 5, 2007 We have just received a shipment of the best selling winter seasonal in our store, Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale. It is a 6.8% ABV American IPA. We have also received a small shipment of Samuel Smith's Winter Welcome. Bring on the Bell's Brewery stouts- October 30, 2007 We have just received a shipment of 3 stouts from Bell's Brewery (Galesburg, MI). Now in stock, just in time for the cold winter months, are Expedition Stout, Double Cream Stout and Cherry Stout. Anderson Valley Winter Solstice is now in stock- October 30, 2007 One of the more popular beers of the winter, Anderson Valley (Boonville, CA) Winter Solstice, has arrived in store. This fine holiday brew was awarded Gold Medals in 1997 and 1998 by the World Beer Championships , and was named their 1998 World Champion Winter Ale . Victory Hop Wallop is back- October 26, 2007 The seasonal release of the ever-popular Hop Wallop has arrived. Even though there are rumors of this beer being brewed year-round, nothing has been announced. Hop Wallop is a double IPA, 8.5% ABV, celebrating the pioneering spirit of old Horace 'Hop' Wallop and those who dare mighty adventurous things in this vivid, robust ale. Victory's annual homage to the hop harvest, expect loads of aromatic splendor and bitter beauty. 14 medals won by Philly-area brewers at 2007 GABF - October 19th, 2007 The 14 medals won by Philly-area brewers last weekend at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver was the best showing ever for the locals. More than that, it was a tribute to some of the region's classics. Troegs Mad Elf is here!- October 18, 2007 Troegs Brewing Company (Harrisburg, PA) has released it's Winter seasonal, Mad Elf. This 11% abv brew, is one of the most popular seasonals in the store. As with previous years, it will probably come and go fairly quick, so don't wait to pick up a case or two. We still have a 6-pack stored in the cold box from last year and can't wait to get to it, as it will get better with age. Pilsner Urquell sampling Friday, September 28 Come join us for a sampling of Pilsner Urquell, the world's original pilsner style beer. Pilsner Urquell has been brewed since 1842 in what is now the Czech Republic. Glassware will also be given to all who purchase a case of Pilsner Urquell. Beer authority Michael Jackson dies - August 31th, 2007 Pumpkin beers are here and Octoberfest beers are on their way!!!!- August 15, 2007 The ever-popular pumpkin beers are in! Each year the supply is greater due to the greater demand, but I would not take any chances, because they will go quick and will not last until Halloween. In stock now are: Dogfish Head Punkin Ale (our favorite), Saranac Pumpkin Ale, Shipyard Pumpkinhead Ale and Weyerbacher Imperial Pumpkin Ale. Also now in stock is Weyerbacher Autumnfest. All are available in cases of 12oz bottles. Octoberfest and Pumpkin beers are coming soon!- August 9, 2007 It won't be long.....I know it's still August......but it may be another week or two before you will start seeing the many Octoberfest and Pumpkin beers. New Fall Release from Troegs is in stock- August 9, 2007 Troegs Brewing Company, Harrisburg (PA), has released a new fall seasonal called Dead Reckoning. It will temporarily be replacing Oatmeal Stout as their fall seasonal in 2007. We now have organic beers in stock!- July 16, 2007 We are now carrying four different organic beers, two of which are brewed by Anheuser-Busch. The two AB beers in stock are Stone Mill Pale Ale and Wild Hop Lager. Also in stock, from the Orlio Organic Beer Company in South Burlington, Vermont, are Orlio Common Ale and Orlio IPA. Limited stock of Stone Vertical Epic is in! - June 27, 2007 We have received a limited stock of the Stone 07-07-07 Vertical Epic. Stone Brewing Company's (Escondido, CA) sixth beer of their "epic" series, 07-07-07 Vertical Epic is an inspiration from two Belgian styles: Saisons and Golden Triples. It is 8.4% ABV and its bottled only in 22 ounces, with 12 bottles per case. We still have 1 case of Anchor Christmas Ale 2006- June 20, 2007 We still have 1 case of Anchor Christmas Ale 2006 in stock and stored in our cold box. According to the Anchor Brewing website, Christmas Ale properly refrigerated, the beer remains intriguing and drinkable for years, with different nuances slowly emerging as the flavor mellows slightly. Joe Sixpack | It used to be hard to find craft beer in Philly, but it's growing now - January 5, 2007 Watching the girls in G-strings do their thing atop the bar at the Penn's Port Pub, I get this tingling sensation that something is growing in Philadelphia. Beer, my friends, craft beer. Over there next to the Miller Lite is a fully erect Yards Philly Pale Ale tap handle. A-B ships sorghum beer - December 20, 2006 The search for gluten-free beer gets easier for drinkers this week as Anheuser-Busch releases Redbridge, the first nationally distributed sorghum-based beer.
